EUROPE IS AN ANCIENT FAERIELAND

We tend to think of the ancient Greek and Roman civilisations as being relatively accepting of homosexual acts and relationships in comparison to the Christian culture that superceded them in Europe. But we have been misled. The Greeks and Romans tolerated same sex activities only in certain circumstances, most famously that between adult and younger men, the erastes and the eromenos. This relationship was seen as one of the foundations of the stability of society, but other forms of gay love were not applauded, and the passive partner in the sex act was looked down on.

Plato is sometimes quoted as praising the spiritual potential in homosexual love, but he went on to have a change of heart and spoke against it. Aristotle dismissed his ideas, and pointed out that the Celtic peoples of the north accorded it a special honour. Aristotle’s word for the passionate friendship between men was synousia. Among the Celts the passive partner in homosexual intercourse was respected.

The Greek philosopher Posidonius, 1ST century BC, traveled into Gaul to investigate the truth of the stories told about the Celtic tribes, and put it very simply: “The Gaulish men prefer to have sex with each other.”

“Although they have good-looking women, they pay very little attention to them, but are really crazy about having sex with men. They are accustomed to sleeping on the ground on animal skins and roll around naked with male bed-mates on both sides. Heedless of their own dignity, they abandon without qualm the bloom of their bodies to others. And the most incredible thing is that they do not find this shameful. When they proposition someone, they consider it dishonourable if he doesn’t accept the offer!” —Diodorus Siculus, a Greek historian living in Roman Empire, 1st century BCE, writing about the Celtic Europeans.

Eusebius of Caesarea, wrote that “Among the Gauls, the young men marry each other (gamountai) with complete freedom. In doing this, they do not incur any reproach or blame, since this is done according to custom amongst them.” (4th centtury CE)

Bardaisan of Edessa wrote that “In the countries of the north — in the lands of the Germans and those of their neighbors, handsome [noble] young men assume the role of wives [women] towards other men, and they celebrate marriage feasts.” (2nd century CE)

“Celtic mythology is riddled with deities who do not fit neatly into rigid, stereotypical gender roles. There are Goddesses of war and battle and Gods of love and poetry. There is also a tradition of male praise-poets who wrote about the kings they served as a lover writes of their beloved. Many historical commentaries on warriors and monastics speak of devoted companions who shared a bed and often the love between these companions is celebrated in poetry and songs.” http://veryjoeandbullish.blogspot.com/2012/07/the-celtic-brotherhood-homosexuality.html

Legends say the Celts fought their battles naked and had no fear of death. Even Julius Caesar commented on this, and recorded that the Celts were quite confident of the existence of ‘the otherworld’, a fairy land type parallel reality that souls return to at death.

If you look up History of Homosexuality on the net you will likely find the starting point to be commentary about ancient Greece, perhaps with some references to Egypt and the ancient Middle East. But the truth about Celtic Northern Europe is hidden away from sight. It’s time to raise the veil and reveal that old Europe was a very queer place.

As the hidden history of the queer people of planet Earth gradually becomes more known, we are learning that when European explorers set foot in the Americas, north and south, same sex love and transsexuality were often considered quite normal.  What’s more these attributes were often associated with the shamans, the medicine people, the priests and wizards of the tribes.  In Buddhist China and Japan homosexuality was considered a privilege enjoyed by the monastic classes.

The Dagara tribe of west Africa has retained their ancient understanding of the gatekeeper role to this very day – in her book, The Spirit of Intimacy, Dagara teacher Sobonfu Some writes, –

The words gay and lesbian do not exist in the village, but there is the word gatekeeper. Gatekeepers are people who live a life at the edge between the worlds – the world of the village and the world of spirit. Though they do not marry in this world, they say they have partners in other dimensions.

“What they do, they don’t like to communicate to anyone. It is their right to keep it to themselves. Everybody in the village respects that because without gatekeepers, there is no access to other worlds. Most people in the West define themselves and others by sexual orientation. This way of looking at gatekeepers will kill the spirit of the gatekeeper. Gatekeepers in the village are able to do their job simply because of strong spiritual connection, and also their ability to direct their sexual energy not to other people but to spirit.

“The gatekeepers stand on the threshold of the gender line. They are mediators between the two genders. They make sure there is peace and balance between women and men. If the two genders are in conflict and the whole village is caught in it, the gatekeepers are the ones to bring peace. Gatekeepers do not take sides. They simply act as “the sword of truth and integrity.”

In the village homosexuality is seen very differently that it is seen in the West, in part because all sexuality is spiritually based. Taken away from its spiritual context, it becomes a source of controversy, and can be exploited. In the village, you never see gatekeepers, or anybody for that matter, displaying their sexuality or commenting on the sexuality of others.

“Gatekeepers hold keys to other dimensions. They maintain a certain alignment between the spirit world and the world of the village. Without them, the gates to the other world would be shut.

“Gays and lesbians in the West are often very spiritual, but they have been taken away from their connection with spirit. My feeling is that without that outlet or that role in the culture, they have to find other ways of defining themselves. This could be one of the reasons why they would want to get married or make themselves look as though they do not have a unique purpose.”

LOVE IS A GAME OF MIRRORS

“Romantic love, the last illusion, keeps us alive until the revolutions come.”                     LARRY MITCHELL, ‘The Faggots and their Friends Between Revolutions’, 1978

tumblr_inline_o9gey292Hz1tdqb1l_1280

The universe is a love story

a tale of sex and passion

from the atom to the human

everything in creation seeks connection

and that’s why for countless centuries

the holiest of symbols were the cunt and the erection

.

Cut off by religion from the sacred in sexuality

from the holiness of the flesh

and the generous polyamorous potential of love

we’ve been cut off from the source within

from the eternal dance of the lover and beloved

we’ve been deluded by the concept of sin

.

To tune into the romantic dance of the subtle planes

we need to be aware that we exist within a game

to train the body and the mind

to be open to the infinite source of love

on the INSIDE

.

SHIVA. DIONYSUS. ATHENA. PAN. KALI. ARTEMIS. CYBELE

The Ancient Ones call to us still

Life is not the random accident of biology

You are Myth and Story, Magic and History

the result of all that has gone before

and we all know this at our core

.

We are Starlight as well as Stardust

all of us female and male, yin and yang

the individual within the whole, with the whole within the individual.

We can reincarnate without leaving the body

and as we grow into the many facets of who we are

we hasten the collective awakening

.

If I go into the place in myself that is love, and you go into the place in yourself that is love, we are together in love. Then you and I are truly in love, the state of being love. That’s the entrance to Oneness.” RAM DASS

.

LOVE IS A GAME OF MIRRORS

I look, I feel, I see: another version of me

We are all searching for the mirrors

that show us Who We Are

looking for the hearts and hands

that open the soul and make us more whole

.

We are told that God is Love

and how delightfully simple that is….

Love is after all not a person, but a presence

within us and within all things

seeking to connect and grow

in the game of mirrors we walk in the presence

in the game of mirrors we drop the pretence

that love can ever be limited

.

Love reflected back one on one

has literally nowhere to go

that’s why our mirrors creak, break, shatter

love is an expanding force, it’s divine, it’s not yours nor mine

it it’s not expanding, moving, creating it will explode or fade in time

.

In the game of mirrors

love reflects to infinity

and at the infinite speed of love

all boundaries disappear

so does all fear

we remember why we are here

and that’s why all life seeks

to play the Game of Mirrors

.

Lovers often seek ‘the one’

but misunderstand the search completely

it’s not ‘the’ one to complete us that we need

it’s ‘The’ one who lives in everybody

.

In the game of mirrors

THE One is looking for their way home

but our egos deceive us

and so we end up ALONE

but when the ego is surrendered

and love allowed to expand

in the game of mirrors

we can become ALLONE

.

YOU ARE ANOTHER ME

I AM ANOTHER YOU

WITH THE LOVE IN OUR SOULS

WE CAN FIND OUR WAY THROUGH:

THE GAME OF MIRRORS

IS THE WAY HOME

“Who is it that loves and who that suffers? He alone stages a play with Himself; who exists save Him? The individual suffers because he perceives duality. GAYS AS GOD’S CHOSEN PEOPLE

It is a massive cosmic irony that the Christians who condemn and persecute gay people can not see that they are engaged in repeating the story of Christ’s crucifixion. Jesus said the first commandment is to love God and the second to love thy neighbour, something they are totally failing to do. And when persecutors reflect on their actions, may they remember that Jesus said “To the extent that you did it to one of the least of one of these,… you did it unto me.”

The condemnation and punishment of gay people for being attracted to same sex intimacy is no different to the crowds baying for Jesus to be crucified in Jerusalem. Jesus also instructed us to “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you”. Homophobic Christians certainly make no effort to love gay people, but then we are not actually their enemies. They have made themselves into our enemies however – how do we respond? I rarely hear of gay people getting violent towards homophobes! I hear much more about gay Christians doing exactly what Jesus instructed – praying for their enemies, with sincerity and trust that a new day will dawn.

A frontline of this battle for love and acceptance is in Africa. African Christians condemn homosexuality as an import from western culture, completely missing the irony that it is Christianity and homophobia that are the foreign invaders. Gradually the rich queer history of Africa emerges….

“African history is replete with examples of both erotic and nonerotic same-sex relationships. For example, the ancient cave paintings of the San people near Guruve in Zimbabwe depict two men engaged in some form of ritual sex. During precolonial times, the “mudoko dako,” or effeminate males among the Langi of northern Uganda were treated as women and could marry men. In Buganda, one of the largest traditional kingdoms in Uganda, it was an open secret that Kabaka (king) Mwanga II, who ruled in the latter half of the 19th century, was gay.

220px-King_Mwanga_II_Buganda

“The vocabulary used to describe same-sex relations in traditional languages, predating colonialism, is further proof of the existence of such relations in precolonial Africa. To name but a few, the Shangaan of southern Africa referred to same-sex relations as “inkotshane” (male-wife); Basotho women in present-day Lesotho engage in socially sanctioned erotic relationships called “motsoalle” (special friend) and in the Wolof language, spoken in Senegal, homosexual men are known as “gor-digen” (men-women).” http://america.aljazeera.com/opinions/2014/4/homosexuality-africamuseveniugandanigeriaethiopia.html

“The indigenous cultures of South and East Africa have a long history of homosexuality, transgender behavior, and even same-sex marriage between both men and women. In early seventeenth-century Luanda (the capital of Portuguese Angola), Catholic priests Gaspar Azevereduc and Antonius Sequerius documented third-gender natives known as chibados. The chibados dressed like women, spoke effeminately and married other men “to unite in wrongful lust with them.” More shocking to the priests was the fact that such marriages were honored and even prized among the tribesmen. In a similar record, Portuguese Jesuit Joao dos Santos wrote in 1625 that the chibadosmof southwestern Africa were “attyred like women, and behave themselves womanly, ashamed to be called men; are also married to men, and esteeme that unnaturale damnation an honor.” In his writings about seventeenth-century Angola, historian Antonio Cardonega mentioned that sodomy was “rampant among the people of Angola. They pursue their impudent and filthy practices dressed as women.” He also stated that the sodomites often served as powerful shamans, were highly esteemed among most Angolan tribes and commonly called quimbanda.http://amarawilhelm.wixsite.com/around-the-world/part-8

quimbanda

Dagara:The gay person is looked at primarily as a “gatekeeper.” The Earth is looked at, from my tribal perspective, as a very, very delicate machine or consciousness, with high vibrational points, which certain people must be guardians of in order for the tribe to keep its continuity with the gods and with the spirits… Any person who is at this link between this world and the other world experiences a state of vibrational consciousness which is far higher, and far different, from the one that a normal person would experience. This is what makes a gay person gay. This kind of function is…one that people are said to decide on prior to being born. You decide that you will be a gatekeeper before you are born…To then limit gay people to simple sexual orientation is really the worst harm that can be done to a person.” Malidoma Some http://www.menweb.org/somegay.htm

Azande: the Azande tribe in what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo in sub-Saharan Africa use their queerness to instill fear and respect in the eyes of their fellow tribespeople. Lesbian Azande women were notorious for being very open and proud of their queerness, wearing it like a badge of honor. This was because, to the Azande, the spiritual potency of women was seen as often more powerful than that of men. Already at a magical disadvantage, Azande men were particularly impotent to the power of queer Azande women. By having sex with each other, lesbians of the tribe were believed to be able to double their spiritual power, making their magical prowess the most powerful in all the tribe. To show off their spiritual might, Azande lesbians sometimes practiced their queer sexuality in public as a way to let everyone know now had 2x the power they once had.” (Tomas Prower https://www.llewellyn.com/journal/article/2696)

In southeastern Africa, Bori cults—along with their crossdressing shamans and possession rituals—are still quite common among the Zulu. Shamans are known as inkosi ygbatfazi (“chief of the women”) while ordinary transgenders are called skesana and their masculine partners, iqgenge. Zulu warriors traditionally asserted their manhood by substituting boys for women and in the 1890s, Zulu chief Nongoloza Mathebula ordered his bandit-warriors to abstain from women and take on boy-wives instead. After his capture, Nongoloza insisted that the practice had been a longstanding custom among South Africans. Indeed, homosexual marriage was documented among the Zulu, Tsonga and Mpondo migrant workers of South Africa at least since the early nineteenth century. Boy-wives were known by various names such as inkotshane (Zulu),nkhonsthana (Tsonga), tinkonkana (Mpondo)” http://amarawilhelm.wixsite.com/around-the-world/part-8

“Apart from erotic same-sex desire, in precolonial Africa, several other activities were involved in same-sex (or what the colonialists branded “unnatural”) sexuality. For example, the Ndebele and Shona in Zimbabwe, the Azande in Sudan and Congo, the Nupe in Nigeria and the Tutsi in Rwanda and Burundi all engaged in same-sex acts for spiritual rearmament — i.e., as a source of fresh power for their territories. It was also used for ritual purposes.http://america.aljazeera.com/opinions/2014/4/homosexuality-africamuseveniugandanigeriaethiopia.html

“The Meru tribes of Kenya have a religious leadership role known as mugawe, which involves priests wearing female clothing and hairstyles.  In 1973, British ethnologist Rodney Needham noted that the mugawe were often homosexual and sometimes married to other menIn 1987, anthropologist Gill Shepherd reported that homosexuality was relatively common in Kenya, even among Muslims (both male and female). Most Kenyans initially discourage transgender behavior among their children but gradually come to accept it as an inherent part of the child’s spirit (roho) or nature (umbo). Shepherd observed third-gender men, known in Swahili as shoga, who served as passive male prostitutes and wore female clothing, makeup, and flowers at social events such as weddings, where they typically mingled with the “other” women. At more serious events such as funerals and prayer meetings, the shoga would stay with the men and wear men’s attire. Other Swahili terms for homosexual men include basha(dominant male), hanithi (young male partner) and mumemke (man-woman).  Lesbians are known as msagaji or msago(“grinders”).” http://amarawilhelm.wixsite.com/around-the-world/part-8

The Konso of southern Ethiopia have no less than four words for effeminate men, one of which is sagoda and refers to men who never marry, are weak, or who wear skirts. In the mid-1960s, Canadian anthropologist Christopher Hallpike observed one Ethiopian Konso that lived by curing skins (a female occupation) and liked to play the passive role in homosexual relations. In 1957, American anthropologist Simon Messing found male transvestites among the Amhara tribes that were known as wandarwarad (male-female). They lived alone and were considered like brothers to the tribeswomen. The husbands of the women were not at all jealous of the close friendship between their wives and the wandarwarad. Messing reported that the wandarwarad were unusually sensitive and intense in their personal likings. He also found “mannish women” among the Amhara known as wandawande.” http://amarawilhelm.wixsite.com/around-the-world/part-8

In the Sudan, traditional Zande culture is well known for its homosexual marriages, even into the 1970s, as reported by British anthropologist Edward Evans-Pritchard in 1971.  Some Zande princes preferred men over women and could purchase a desired boy for the price of one spearhead.  They would then become husbands to the young man, provide him with beautiful ornaments and address him as badiare (beloved).” http://amarawilhelm.wixsite.com/around-the-world/part-8

Note the frequently recurring links between same sex love and spiritual power.

SPIRITUALITY IS THE MISSING LINK in the modern story of LGBT+ emergence

Persecution of our kind is rooted in the efforts of patriarchal monotheism over 2000 years to eradicate pagan worship, sex temples, sacred prostitution and magic. Sodomy and sorcery were seen as going hand in hand in ancient Middle East and Europe. Transexuality was considered to bestow spiritual power, and this was common around the world – eg the Two Spirits of the USA, now finding the way to reclaim their power and their role in the wider community, after centuries of being referred to as ‘berdache’ (the word given to them by Europeans, it referred to the passive partner in homosexual sex).

Straight men set out to persecute us because they wanted to wield the spiritual power that was the natural gift of women, gay men and transexuals. There are references to this power in the Bible, eg these comments on eunuchs from Jesus and OT prophet Isaiah…

Matthew 19:12

“For there are eunuchs who were born that way, others were made that way by men, and still others live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven.”

Isaiah 56:12

“To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths,
who choose what pleases me
and hold fast to my covenant—
5 to them I will give within my temple and its walls
a memorial and a name
better than sons and daughters;
I will give them an everlasting name
that will endure forever.”

In fact the Bible can as easily be interpreted as a pro-queer document as it is used against us.  There are gay love stories in the Old Testament – between David and Jonathon, Ruth and Naomi.  Genesis chapter 1 tells us that God made humans male and female ‘in his image’, ie it is totally wrong to simply consider god as father, when he is clearly our mother too.  Transgender and queer people have held spiritual power in many cultures because of the powerful combination of male and female soul energies within one body, and Jesus is quoted in the Gnostic Gospel of Thomas as saying that part of the requirement to enter the Kingdom of Heaven is to “make the male and the female into a single one, so that the male is not male and the female not female”.  There are gospel references to the ‘Disciple Whom Jesus Loved’ (and it wasn’t a female).  His very title, ‘The Anointed One’ was the same as given, centuries earlier, to the male/trans temple servants, the Qedesha.

There are a few mentions in the OT of the Qedesha, the male/trans ‘Anointed’ or ‘Holy Ones’ who served as prostitutes in the ancient Goddess temples, and had done for millennia. When translated into English, Qedesha was at first rendered as ‘sodomites’. More modern bibles put ‘male shrine prostitutes’. But LGBT Christian activists do not mention the Qedesha. They do not understand our connection to the Goddess energies. (They have perhaps been convinced by their Christian religion to believe paganism is devil worship, whereas actually it provides the tools to bring our souls into harmony with the natural rhythms of the planet and cosmos.) The memory of the special relationship between queer people and the spirit world has been pretty much eradicated.

Yet it is a memory that won’t ever really die. For we queer children are born in every race, every religion, every nation, every family – and will continue to be, for we are the ones with the special task from God of seeing through the lies and illusions that grip society, and of restoring the connection of humanity and heaven, without the need for dogmatic, censorious, religions.  Witchcraft, Shamanism, Healing are natural practices within us.  Modern society doesn’t understand this and would probably rather we didn’t know it.

Kept out of the religious picture for so long in the west, but until so recently still a part of it elsewhere, the time is coming for queer people to reclaim our own spirituality, discovering out roles as conduits of spirit, healing, peace, love and understanding, so urgently needed in a very confused world.

Virgo Morning 2018

sun in virgo

In the temple of the Sun and Stars

The Lion gracefully lays down in the late summer pastures

Making Way, the Virgin rises

Uniting Earth and Air, Body and Mind

Training our attention on the practical details

Calling us to the paths of Learning and Service.

When Awake there is still work to do.

virgo sun

It’s been a Spring and Summer

Of becoming more of who we are

The Virgin rises and offers clarity and focus

Her Mercurial brand of hocus-pocus.

We find the steps we need to take

To make our lives more whole

And as a collective of souls reclaiming the queer role

In humanity’s passage to the Aquarian morning

The next steps emerge, many paths merge

With Uranus in Taurus, Mars freed from its retrograde,

Liberation is due it’s next surge.

How Gay Sex Has Changed

sexspirit

i used to go drinking in bars

used to go cruising in parks

but nowadays i can sit home alone

and ‘cruise for love’ on a mobile phone

.

I used to watch men wanking in cottages

now i sit him home and watch them wanking online

i used to enjoy fucking bareback

with other positive brothers on meds

but now that everyone wants it raw

i’d rather use a condom instead

too many diseases are too widespread

.

i used to enjoy a chem sacrament

to deepen the sex-love-spirit connection

but for some reason now guys take drugs

that destroy all chance of them getting an erection

they take the drug then seek the sex

sitting home alone on their mobile phones….

but finding a lover then taking the trip…

is what really gets us in the zone.

.

London sometimes seems to be becoming

a city of hungry arses

of men chasing after something or nothing

of men taking without leaving deposits

Soft Cell sang it 1983…

“out in the city, out in the street

isn’t it pretty, isn’t it sweet

a man could get lost… a man could get lost’

.

the gay boys all rush to the city

the gay boys so easily get lost

i talk to guys who have done every sex act, every drug

been adored and explored

been raped and used, been desperate to be abused

but they’ve never wandered and met a man in the trees

they’ve never fucked just on beautiful weed

they’ve dived in the deep end

found excess, been high and of course depressed

and can’t see the way out of the viper’s nest

.

it used to be you had to work quite hard to be a slut

risk attack or arrest in parks and toilets

even the saunas got raided

sex is plentiful in the internet age

masc seeking masc is all the rage

the chains are breaking on the homosexual cage

but there’s more to discover about our sexuality

as we enter the Aquarian Age

.

these days we meet to play, we don’t mention love

but guys

what we really need is friends

the chance to make amends

and find some innocence again

.

there’s one way the sex scene is SOOOO much better today

we have safe, legal clubs where we can go to play

where men meet men for a pint and a cruise

wander through darkrooms, dance together, get naked

all this without the fear of the law

this is much much better than it was before.

Social sexual spaces can bond our brotherhood

Ecstatic behaviours save our souls……

tumblr_nw4eu00euV1ufrfdro1_400

if we let our play be divine

we bring our souls online

through love for each brother

we can liberate one another

.

sex can open the gates to heaven

the multi-dimensional Self

that’s what gay sex is actually for

in the grand scheme of creation

it’s what we were honoured for

in pagan Europe and around the world

it’s why the religions of the Father forbade our passion

and it’s why gay sex is now soooo much in fashion

for the old ways are rising again

the Aquarian light of liberation is going to shine through

some will fear annihilation

and some will see

there’s an acceleration of frequency

that is not just affecting the climate

the collective human soul is bursting to give birth

to light filled rainbow consciousness

where all are seen for their worth

and the magic ones return….

.

gays are gatekeepers, witches, shamans and fools

time to reunite sodomy and sorcery

time to redefine ourselves

.

we need to find our sanctuaries, our groves and our tribes

so that the healing of our planet home can begin

and the healing of the human soul, in which our sexuality plays a crucial role.

SOLSTICE SUNRISE

995839_169483466564294_1610944119_n

the longest days of the year around the solstice point June 21st

the early dawn chorus woke me to make celebration of the light

and see the world become technicolour as the sun rises

to hear the birds’ chorus of praise

these are the longest days

.

Solstice is the peak of the Self

a moment to honour our place in the divine dream

to affirm all that we can be

but do it ever so humbly….

enjoying who we are, the little self matters too, yet….

surrendering the ego to the greater Being….

we may see through the veils

feel the souls at our side

The growth spurt of Spring is over

it’s the season to step forth with pride

With kin, with clan, an army of lovers at our side.

.

Within the light is concealed the dark

for the journey to summer’s end starts here

autumn will return, the blooms will vanish and the leaves will fall

within joy there must be sadness….

but there’s a whole long day to fit all the feelings in

and THREE MONTHS til the Equinox

when the inner times take over

.

Cancer Sun receives us and challenges us

to balance all our emotions in the light of the summer rays

then at Leo Sun and Lammas

is time to down tools and rejoice in the Way

come Virgo Sun we get busy again

preparing for harvest and the seasons to come

fuelled by the Fire element, Summer wants us to have some fun.

.

Warriors of Light, Shamans of Shadow

Witches of the Winds, Waves, Earth and Fire

There are HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of us

BORN AROUND THE WORLD

WAKING UP TO OUR ROLES

DISCOVERING THE DESTINY

But there are many more struggling

one foot still firmly stuck in the old paradigm

of division, dis-ease and dismay…..

Let’s cast spells this Solstice

to bring humanity back to the Way.

.

Science separates us into boxes and reduce us to molecules

And religion divides us and fuels the lies in the world.

Is it time to give the men in white coats a taste of our own medicine

(psylocibin, lsd, ayahuasca, san pedro and good weed for starters)

let them become the subjects of their own experiments;

is it time use the crucifixes as firewood

send the stone buddhas back to the mountains

‘disperse the gurus with a great laugh’

and discover the path

we have always been on.

.

The answers are not in psychiatry and psychology

the answers are found in embracing mystery

The stars, sun, moon and planets

have been here a lot longer than us.

Our ancestors observed them and discovered the Way

And despite religion, despite science

despite despotism, despite capitalism

the Way can not be stropped, and the Way will have its Day.

.

Imagine the great wheel of the solar system

travelling majestically through space

spinning all the time, generating glory, energy – consciousness

all the planets and moons a single dance

the zodiac the background to the story

a story of gods and angels, animals and humans

elementals and ancestors whispering in our ears

in the magic of the Solstice days

they whisper to us to lose our fears

because WE ARE that consciousness

the Solar System’s space cadets

flying through the galaxy

embodying the divine’s aspects

in these awesome, horny human forms

that are part of nature and filled with light

GET OUT OF THE MIND

to GET OUT OF THE NIGHT

for the mind is there to question and analyse

we have in ourselves, places more deep and more wise.

.

Attune to the cycles and rhythms

Become conscious of the solar system’s synchronicities

YOU are the product of this dance

a PEAK of its experience, a unique achievement

DANCE in your hearts human children

Become an orchestra of many flutes playing

Solstice is here, it’s the season of Pan

GET OUT AND GET NAKED IN THE WOODS IF YOU CAN

Humanity’s Aquarian Rebirth

aquarius-mars

CONSCIOUSNESS is a thing…

A thing we all have in common

It can be charted, mapped and explored.

Just as there is a physical universe

There are also vast mental, emotional and spiritual layers of creation

Each one as vast as the physical, as complex

Each one open to our searching.

.

CONSCIOUSNESS is a magical thing

it operates through attraction, love and karma

it is opened through compassion, selflessness, service

through devotion and knowledge

.

MAPS OF CONSCIOUSNESS exist, such as the chakra system, the kabbalistic tree of life and the astrological wheel of the year.  We can ignore, deny these things, but that basically  destines us to be pawns of life, destined to suffer the swings and dives until we perhaps find a route to wisdom.  If we study the wisdom traditions that have existed since before religions, and which survive despite the prevailing scientific rational outlook, we can become pioneer psychonauts unlocking the secrets of the mystery of consciousness we all find ourselves in.  That’s what we come to do here – to find, then to love, express and be – ourselves.  Each one of us a unique version of the One Consciousness.

.

Our beliefs shape our reality

we open or close our own gates

it’s our choice to explore or ignore

the potential of the cosmic human

birthing a multidimensional age

that was long foreseen

.

CONSCIOUSNESS is the mystery

and planet earth is the school

we’ll never discover what it’s all about

by denying the seekers and teachers who came before

nor will we awaken to wisdom

by obeying all the rules

for rules are designed to constrain us

and divide the world into wrong and right

cutting us off from the source of Light

.

Reality is a rainbow miracle

and humanity is on the verge

of a breakthrough, a revelation

a cosmic Aquarian surge

.

The Sun, the Moon, the stars, the planets

The Earth herself are with us on the Way

Consciousness is the miracle

but the ride can get rough and tough

when the going gets tough

the tough pray

.

We are a UNITY experiencing DIVERSITY

a ONE become MANY

to become ONE again.

Love, Light and Laughter

Play, Joy, Pleasure and Touch

These are the divine gifts of the body:

Seek out what makes the heart sing

if the shockwaves get too much

.

Many are losing, but many are choosing

to become more aware, to care

Community of Souls is coming to Planet Earth.

Humanity’s Aquarian Rebirth.

I am a Long Term AIDS Survivor who underwent a transformation on every level of my being while living with AIDS 1995-8 – waking up, through facing death, to many levels of human nature that barely get a look in usually. Since regaining health and strength I have continued that transformation and brought the new awareness gained into actively creating a clan of magically attuned queers in the UK, and participating in the expanding queer mystical community of Radical Faeries around the globe.

I believe the spiritual frontier is the one gay/queer/trans people need urgently to tackle – igniting a search and discovery that could change the understanding of ourselves, and how we are perceived the world over – and I have a very simple answer to the dilemma facing gay male communities across that globe, the dilemma of “post-aids: why are we killing ourselves with drugs?” how did we reach the point that we are talking about a “second plague”?

AIDS for me was an Accelerated Individual Discovery of Self. There was a consciousness in the plague years, at least in some corners, that this holocaust had spiritual roots as well as physical. The dying years were times of transcendence and apotheosis – as the drama Angels in America so cleverly portrayed. I wasn’t the first to use this dramatically positive definition of AIDS. Transpersonal psychologist Dowling Singh wrote in the Advocate in December 1998 that Accelerated Individual Discovery of Self was the AIDS community’s “secret understanding.”

Writing of his experience as a hospice worker with dying men, Dowling said, – “One of these men who I grew to love told me that, more than any other rite of passage in his life, through this harsh passage of AIDS he had come to know himself. He said he had always treated his life as though it were a dress rehearsal but that ‘dying is very real.’ It was, he said, through new eyes that he saw his own real beauty, his own real value, the depth of meaning we miss so often in life, and the raw power of love.”

Back in 1987 “AIDS: Passageway to Transformation” was published by C. Norman Shealy and Caroline Myss, presenting case studies where individuals had transformed from a ‘victim consciousness’ to personal empowerment, and asking deeper, spiritual and societal, questions about why AIDS was manifesting at this time. Books such as Nick Bamforth’s “AIDS and the Healer Within” pushed some of us to seek deeper answers within ourselves as to why we were going through this.

There is a “second plague” underway now because the first did not deliver all the lessons. As a Long Term Survivor I have a message to deliver, an experience to share, that is about a lot more than the physical and mental and social health issues we survivors are so often associated with. That message in simple form is that we come into this life to find ourselves, in our wholeness, and live as richly and deeply and enthusiastically as we can, but also that….

THERE IS A SECOND BIRTH POSSIBLE IN LIFE, AN AWAKENING TO THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE SOUL. By going to the edge of life many gay men in the aids years learnt this. But of those who did, only a few of us survived to tell the tale.

LIFE IS A MYSTERY SCHOOL. The rarely spoken truth of the rise to dominance of patriarchal, monotheistic religion in the last 2000 years, is that the roots of religion lie in the Mystery Schools of the ancient world. The Jesus story, when understood allegorically, becomes a map for the journey of the soul, which is why it bears so many resemblances to other ancient myths, which served the same purpose. There is another soul map from those ancient schools still prominent in the modern world, which, though much misunderstood and maligned, is increasingly appreciated for the wisdom it contains – astrology.

And guess what? Those mystery schools were havens of homosexuality and transgenderism. It was a rite of the mystery process to learn and experience that the soul has all genders within itself, that same sex love can open the gates to spirit and consciousness, to the holy realms. As well as these schools, all around the world, what we would now call trans and queer beings were the shamans, witches, healers, mediums of the tribal peoples. This knowledge has been thoroughly repressed to the point that the modern queer can completely the miss the spiritual calling inside themselves (convinced as they are due to the hate filled propaganda about us from certain religious quarters to avoid such matters). This calling can then become a constant search for pleasure, for chem induced highs, for escapism, until the point of destruction is reached and we are forced to face ourselves and maybe through that find out who we really are. The dark lesson is as much there for the crashing out addicts of the chemsex scene as it was for us dying from the aids holocaust -when you go to the edge you get the chance to find yourself.

And the dark lessons will keep coming until gay culture embraces SELF-DISCOVERY as the core of its very reason for being. Coming Out is a step on the way, a huge one – but the process of self-awareness has a lot further to go than that. We have the chance as queers to question everything about how this world is viewed and run – and to offer alternatives that our queer eye on the world can dream up. We need to grasp that existence is a SPIRITUAL happening, not simply a lust-filled physical one. Yes we love sex, we love the body – that is because we are free spirits come into this world to have a good time – but also, crucially, here to get in touch with the magnificence of being alive, and to find and fulfil our soul purpose.

My plea to the gay community is – Let’s get beyond religion. We were banished from its hallways because gay sex, and transexuality, were associated with the sex-positive, pagan worship of the horned gods Pan and Dionysus and the Great Mother Goddess. Religion took the internal esoteric mysteries of the ancient world and turned them into something exoteric, something to believe in rather than something to experience. Spiritual power was used to control populations rather than to liberate them. The repression of our kind is entirely linked to this, for we are liberators of the spirit.

The reason AIDS hit gay men so early into our journey of liberation in the late 20th century is also the reason that many men are getting caught in the soul-destroying dead ends of the drugged up sex underworld – we are on the cutting edge of human consciousness attempting to break through the limited understandings of modern culture, to reveal to ourselves, and then the world, that there is so much more to being human, that a birth to the spirit is possible, but it ain’t about being religious – it’s about finding and liberating the power, the love, the divine light within us.

Gay men are natural priests, who connect the worlds of the living and the dead, who bring together nature and human consciousness. Instead of endless sex parties and drug madness, gay men have the potential to create a culture that embraces the fullness of being alive – which means facing our fears, phobias, inadequacies, failings and wounds, instead of medicating them away, and creating a culture that welcomes newly out men, of whatever age, into a space that honours their soul as well as their dick, that encourages their hearts to expand as well as their muscles, that brings a brotherhood that goes a lot further than sharing needles or diseases.

For we are the vanguard. The barriers between the genders, between sexualities, are becoming increasingly blurred. Some day soon it will be normal for people to explore sex and love with the same gender as well as an other gender, but what awaits in that future? The pioneers of the 20th and early 21st queer culture – that is all of us – are setting the shape of the future. What will newly emerging gay souls and masc-curious bi men find in our gay culture? A place of use and abuse, suffering and soul-death or a culture of conscious sexuality, loving brotherhood and self-discovery?

3. Survivors are a valuable part of our communities we need to empower them to become the elders, leaders, and teachers.
4. Celebrating HLTS for enduring an historically unique epidemic and being the pioneers of the AIDS pandemic.
5. Prioritize HLTS culturally-aware healthcare and mental health.
6. Move beyond survival, the goal is aging well with HIV.
7. Honoring the resilience and strength, it took survive multiple causalities and unprocessed grief while planning to die.

As one of those survivors, I see how the wisdom gained in those years has yet to filter through to the wider community. And I see how continuing health crises are forcing us as a community to face up to questions about who we are, how we relate, and what just what kind of queer cosmos we are creating for future generations to explore and discover themselves. All of us that came out in the 20th century have the chance, even the responsibility, to forge a gay scene that supports and nurtures the men within it, and those of us who took the journey with AIDS to the edge of life, perhaps more than anyone, can see the incredibly bright potential awaiting all queerkind when we do that, when we truly embrace the soul consciousness and emerge as healers for the entire human race, bringing re-union with the worlds of spirit and renewal of humanity’s contract with life, love and the profound, simple, queer magic of being alive.

Mars in Aquarius Summer 2018

mars in aquarius 1

Mars, the planet of energy, action and desire, is in the freedom-loving sign of Aquarius from May 16 to August 12 and again from September 10th – November 15th, spending longer than it usually does in a sign due to appearing retrograde from June 27th – August 28th (and re-entering Capricorn for a month). Our experiences during the summer and autumn of 2018 will be strongly influenced by this energy, so it can help a lot to have a grasp of what Mars in Aquarius is about – for this transit has the potential to bring revolutionary change to our individual and collective lives.

mars into aquarius 1

Cafeastrology says: Dynamic yet erratic energy levels, achieving our goals through hit or miss tactics, and impersonal expression of anger are characteristics of Mars in Aquarius. We are team players–cooperative and less concerned about personal power. We are attracted to unconventional methods, and tend to approach problems from an intellectual, detached perspective.”

Roya Backlund on elitedaily.com tells us:

“Mars in Aquarius will inspire you to be proud of what makes you unique. While it’s normal to feel like hiding certain aspects of yourself in order to fit in, Mars in Aquarius wants you to bare the truth of your individuality for all the world to see. There’s nobody in this world like you. You were given strengths, talents, flaws, and weaknesses that nobody else has. Your qualities exist for a reason, and if you don’t use them, our world will be lacking a necessary ingredient.

“During this time, you must listen closely to your inner-voice and do exactly what it says. Do not let the expectations of others tarnish the purity of yourself. Do not allow someone else’s idea of who you are dictate the steps you take. Instead, forge your own path.

“During Mars in Aquarius, you will be swept by an urgent desire to remain free. Any inhibiting restrictions, narrow-minded belief systems, or constraining routines will make you feel like you’re trapped. Instead, you will want to break free from your cage and run wild. This will feel incredibly liberating, like there’s nothing in the world that can hold you back.”

mars aquarius

Tarot.com:

“While fierce Mars moves through the brilliant sign of Aquarius, we’re eager to fight for our freedom, our individuality, and our community! Aquarius is a sign that marches to its own beat, and we simply won’t allow our ideas and ambitions to be silenced or shoved aside during this transit.

“Mars in Aquarius is a time to revolutionize our way of doing things. It blesses us with magnificent visions to improve not only our daily lives, but society as a whole. Our minds are clear and we are free to think and act in whatever way is needed. We can see a better future, and the steps we must take in order to reach it.

“Mars’ transit through Aquarius is a time to stand up for our rights and fight for change. Aquarius is a detached sign that doesn’t typically get too fired up, but Mars’ warrior-like presence here adds the fuel that is normally lacking and encourages us to champion our ideas and ideals. We are fighting for our freedoms, but we aren’t using our fists — with Mars in Aquarius, our minds are our greatest weapons.

“Strength lies in fresh ideas and original plans during this transit. Traditional ways of thinking will only lead to more of the same — Mars in Aquarius is a time to identify what we want the future to look like, and to take active steps toward it. It’s not just about thinking outside the box, it’s about completely forgetting about the box. The only way to make things radically different is to act in radical ways.

“Injustices and societal problems are impossible to ignore while Mars is in Aquarius. Aquarius is the humanitarian of the zodiac, and is especially concerned with what’s happening to the underdog. While Mars is firing up this sign, we can clearly see what needs to change and how. We can see not just the problems, but the solutions. There’s a powerful opportunity for reformation and revolution during this transit that we don’t always have available to us.”

THE RETROGRADE PERIOD (June 27-Aug 28th):

“… indicates a profound and very powerful time of resetting our practical needs for humanity’s overall benefit as it asks us to simply surrender to letting go of what no longer works with courage by our side.

This specific retrograde passage opens us to embrace a true redefinition of what allows us all to take action within our lives, asking for us to find humility, consideration, and patience as we pause in lieu of the larger picture. Coupled with the sensitive path we are personally and collectively on throughout 2018 to connect to what we are meant to be nurturing the most to be a greater part of the entire whole, Summer 2018 energetically resets the future goals of the world. This critical cycle of reflection aligns us in grave responsibility to become like a well-oiled machine that is able to properly express self-reliance and acute awareness within our lives.” FROM sharitastar.com

Mary Shea puts it simply like this:

“While Mars is retrograde, you will be reviewing the way you handle anger, self-defense, self-motivation and sexual relationships… outward anger or conflicts may not be appropriate .”

mars in aquarius

Kelly Surtees on kellysastrology.com:

“This period is like a cosmic pause, where delays have a purpose; to give you extra time to clarify your motivation and dreams for the future. When Mars returns to Aquarius from mid-September to mid-November, you’ll be refreshed and ready to power forward.”

Kimberley Peta Dewhirst on starsignstyle.com

“Mars appearing retrograde is a time when our energy and actions are busy and distracted. Just as communications, electricals and networks go haywire during Mercury Retrograde our reserves of ardent drive can be knocked off course during this time. It might be a chaotic period of in-action, and our plans may back-fire or be thwarted by obstacles. Other people might seem to have a quick temper, be overactive, rash and take action on impulse. Drives may wane, including our sex-drive!

“Will power, assertiveness, forthrightness and the ability to power and drive through life will be on slow-gear, even reverse! It’s important to review how we expend our energies and the projects we’re progressing. This is a great time to reassess the action-plan, re-work where our energies are directed, RECHARGING and RESTING.”

She also offers this sound advice for the retrograde:

“Don’t initiate new projects now (if possible), plans could need re-assertion.

“Don’t Panic – Mars appears retrograde every two years, nothing to go Gaga over.”
